A little further north from the walking trail/signal. The track to the left connects with CSX. This is part of a wye CSX still uses today to turn engines. The G&F main goes on around a little ways and dead ends with the switch for the other part of the wye. The G&F didn't have much of a yard just around the bend, and their "depot" was Seaboard's Maxwell Depot. Overhead is where the C&WC once came into town. Southern's and the C&WC's track ran side by side through the middle of downtown Greenwood. Southern tied their main with the G&F just south of here, and the C&WC tied their main to the Seaboard just west of Maxwell Yard so that both would no longer have to bear the downtown running headaches. Southern and C&WC would run on Seaboard's track to access the other portion of their main. |
